Many people start eating healthier for weight loss reasons. However, there is so much confusing information out there even in the raw vegan world.
Some advise eating a minimum of 3000 calories a day. However, unless one is an athlete that trains for hours per day, weight gain is the inevitable result of this advice.
Many peruse recipes for raw foods and buy a juicer or vitamix. These blend up wonderful smoothies and juices that are full of vitamins and minerals.
Many have seen the documentary “Fat, Sick and Nearly Dead” with Joe Cross and Phil Staples and have seen the weight loss of these two men. Thus a juicing trend swept the world which is a very positive thing.
However, as shown in the below video, the fiber structure is changed in blended and eliminated altogether with juicing and this affects satiety and weight loss–in a big way.
So, not that we are laying down any hard and fast rules here, but just be educated and aware and if you are not reaching your goals, this could be the reason. Dr. Caldwell Esselstyn warns against juicing and smoothies as well.
I’m sure this debate will continue, but it’s important to be aware that it exists:
