Some of us have a higher capacity than others to hear disturbing news. This has to do with our confidence in our abilities to cope and deal with crisis. So it shouldn’t surprise us when we meet with denial when we try to address the problem of health or should I say “sick” care in America today.
Many go back and forth about the possible contributing causes, but I just read a quote by Bill Maher that pretty much nails it on the head:
“We won’t stop being sick until we stop making ourselves sick. Because there is a point where even the most universal government health program can’t help you. They can’t outlaw unhealthy food, or alcohol, or cigarettes. Just pot, sadly. Because, you see, the government is not your nanny; they’re your dealer. And they’ve subsidized illness in this country. They have to, there’s too much money in it. You see, there’s no money in healthy people, and there’s no money in dead people. The money is in the middle: people who are alive, sort of, but with one or more chronic conditions that puts them in need of Celebrex, or Nasinex, or Valtrex, or Lunesta. Fifty years ago, children didn’t even get Type-2 diabetes. Now it’s an emerging epidemic, as are a long list of ailments that used to be rare, and have now been…mainstreamed. Things like asthma, and autism, and acid reflux, and arthritis, allergies, adult acne, attention deficit disorder. And that’s just the A’s. Doesn’t anybody wonder why we live with all this illness?” –Bill Maher
Many will read this and have a hard time believing that the government would purposely keep sickness going in its own people just for profits. However, Robyn O’Brian wrote in her book “Unhealthy Truth” that former Secretary of Defense, Donald Rumsfeld, was president of a company called Searle that was responsible for creating Aspartame. This new “food” was having trouble getting approved by the FDA due to it causing seizures and brain tumors in monkeys.
Until members of Searle’s PR team applied for and got jobs at the FDA, approved Aspartame and then went back to their old jobs.
Shocked? This type of thing happens all the time in Washington. And bills are passed monthly that have fine print passing laws that protect corporate rights that most Americans never knew about, approved or would hear on the 6 pm Newscast.
The Monsanto Protection Act was one such piece of legislature that gave Monsanto immunity from lawsuits should someone be harmed by their GMO seed crops. Robyn addresses how food allergy hospitalizations have sky rocketed since their introduction to the market.
And, she talks about how yellow food coloring which has been known to cause hyperactivity in kids was still being put into Kraft macaroni and cheese here int he US (they recently said they’d take it out due to activist pressure mainly from Robyn’s followers) but it was banned and omitted in the same boxes over seas in the UK.
The book “Fat, Sugar, Salt” was a bomb shell expose about how the food industry has manipulated people into becoming addicted to their foods and T. Colin Campbell’s book “Whole” has shown the behind-the-scenes politic-ing that occurs with scientists, research and Big business.
Folks, your food is not safe. Not if you buy it from a box and not from a farmer. And, it’s best to be an organic farmer.
All those commercials and restaurants that sell that oh-so-hard-to-resist food is going to drive a knife through your heart when your husband drops dead of a heart attack or your wife wastes away from cancer or your child does.
And here’s what’s really evil: the food companies have done such a good job conditioning us from birth and in schools that their foods are not bad for us that not only ARE WE DOING IT TO OURSELVES but we resent anyone trying to tell us to eat healthier and view them as a food nazi and we become like a smoker insisting on our “food rights”.
And the food companies are laughing all the way to the bank. And so are the pharmaceutical companies. There is a book entitled “Selling Sickness” where they itemize how the pharmaceutical companies have marketed sickness to a healthy population scaring them into believing that they are sick when they are not. It’s a bad case of “The Emperor Has No Clothes” where no one wants to appear unintelligent or unscientific so when they hear these long-syllable words that sound so scientific they believe what these “studies” say so as to not appear dumb when in actuality these studies were funded and designed by those very same pharmaceutical companies.
“You will know the truth and the truth will set you free” is a quote from the Bible. And it’s true. IF we are willing to accept responsibility for our health and realize that we are not bad people for being duped by these companies because how in the world could we have known when they did not properly disclose all this to us and deliberately were deceiving us?
Sure, we can beat ourselves up for not figuring it out sooner, but we human beings like to trust. Especially authority. We need a sense of feeling safe and secure and feeling like those in authority are watching over us and have our highest good as their goals.
It’s devastating when we realize they don’t and that they are dangerous and unsafe and greedy and will go to horrible lengths for their profits.
Okay breathe. Here’s the deal: you can put them out of business and regain control RIGHT NOW and get healthy just by what you buy and what you eat. You can change yourself on a dime IF you are willing.
Please don’t allow yourself to be exploited this way. Stop creating disease by eating foods that are refined shells of their former selves and full of chemicals fat and sugar.
Support local organic farmers or better yet, grow your own food.
You got this.
